When You Strive For Excellence, You Cure Perfectionism.

Many people strive for perfectionism; the perfect score, the flawless performance or the ultimate results.

Yet, people miss out on the deeper problems of perfectionism.

Perfectionists will keep working until perfection is achieved or not move on. They will never start something new for fear of failure or avoid imperfection with procrastination.

Perfectionists deeply identify with their results and can never be associated with imperfections. Perfection determines their self-worth and self-esteem.

Yet, there is no such thing as perfection. Perfection is subjective. Perfectionist constantly feels they are "not good enough". Even with excellent results, perfectionists cannot appreciate their efforts and see their actual value.

Unlearn perfectionism and embrace imperfections, for therein lies true beauty.

Imperfections are bumps, bruises, scratches and flaws. All these marks reveal struggles and triumphs.  If something is too polished, it is perceived as superficial, or worse, lacking its soul.

Rather than aiming for perfection, strive for excellence instead. Striving for excellence is about progress, not results. It is knowing that you have done your very best and celebrated anyway, no matter the outcome. With excellence, you learn from the past and try again.
